My name is Nicholas James John, and I am the sole owner of ST10 LAW.

I qualified as a Solicitor in 1998 and since then I have worked in many kinds of Law firm, from traditional High Street firms through to large corporate firms in the City of London, and I have dealt with many areas of Law, from Crime and Family Law to Commercial Litigation and Professional Indemnity Insurance Law.

Since 2005, however, I have concentrated on Private Client work, dealing with Will Writing, Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs), Court of Protection Applications, and Probate/Estate Administration.

I was Head of the Private Client department at a local firm for 9 years before I left, in October 2024, to become a Private Client Consultant Solicitor for a top 100 National firm called Setfords Law.

In February 2025, I joined the Society of Will Writers and Estate Planners and set up my own Will Writing and Estate Planning business, ST10 LAW.

I undertake most of my Will Writing and Estate Planning work through ST10 LAW and all my Probate/Estate Administration work through Setfords.

I have been an Accredited Member of the Association of Lifetime Lawyers (formerly Solicitors for the Elderly) since 2023.  Lifetime Lawyers are the gold standard when it comes to supporting vulnerable and older people with legal advice.

I am a member of the Will Writing panel of the largest cancer charity in the World, Cancer Research UK (CRUK); as a result, I can offer my clients heavily discounted fees for simple single or mirror Wills under CRUK’s Will Writing Scheme (formerly known as its Free Will Scheme).

My office is based in the beautiful village of Alton in the Staffordshire Moorlands, which is situated between Stoke on Trent and Derby. If clients are unable to come to my office, home visits within 15 miles of Alton are not a problem and do not incur a charge.

I am married to Heather, an extremely talented musician and Music Teacher.  We have two Daughters, Tilly and Arabella.  

In addition to doing my job well, I am keen to offer a very good client experience. I aim to make my clients feel valued, important, safe, and cared for in all their dealings with me.  I have a gentle and soft approach to all my clients, enabling them to feel comfortable with me. This, in turn, encourages them to provide me with the information and instructions I need to do my best for them.

Although I take my job very seriously, I like to be light-hearted in all my client interactions as it helps put clients at ease straight away.
