Professional Will Writing & Estate Planning
A valid Will is one of the most important documents that a person can have. Yet over 50% of adults in the UK do not have one. This can often have devastating effects on families and loved ones; if someone dies without a Will then their Estate falls to be divided in accordance with the Intestacy Rules and this can often have unintended results.
To be valid a Will must be in writing and must be properly signed and witnessed. The person making the Will must have sufficient capacity to make the Will and they must not be unduly influenced by another person when making the Will. It is vitally important therefore that a qualified professional (like me) is used to advise upon the drafting and execution of the Will to reduce the chances of the Will being contested.
As well as enabling someone to decide exactly what is to happen to their Estate, Wills can be used to appoint Guardians for young children, to avoid or limit Inheritance Tax (IHT) and to avoid a sideways inheritance or to reduce liability to care home fees.

Cancer Research UK Will Writing Service
I am a member of Cancer Research UK’s Will Writing Service panel, and I can offer this scheme to any client aged 18 or over. The way the scheme works is that I prepare a simple single Will for a client or simple Mirror Wills for a couple and CRUK will pay my costs. What CRUK hopes is that, in return, the client or clients leave a legacy in their Will or Wills to CRUK. Although there is no obligation for a legacy to be left, most clients do; in fact, one third of CRUK’s income comes from the Will Writing Service scheme.
If a client does not wish to take advantage of the CRUK Will Writing Service scheme to have a simple Will prepared, then they can pay privately for my services. If a client needs a Will or Wills preparing which are not simple (for example, Life Interest Trust Wills which involve more complex drafting and the possible severance of a Joint Tenancy), then I will provide them with an estimate of my likely charges.
My Will Writing services always include advice regarding the safe storage and registration of Wills (which will incur a separate charge) and the provision of both physical and digital assets logs (at no charge).
Please contact me for a quote for my Will Writing Services.
Please note that my charges do not have VAT added as I am not VAT registered.
